Ildefonso is the CTO of Digital and Innovation at Santander UK, where he is in charge of R&D, proofs of concepts, and implementation of high-profile innovation programs such as Apple Pay, OnePay FX, a blockchain-based international payments service for retail customers, and others. After completing his MBA at Tongji (Shanghai) and UCI (California) and working in Europe, America, and Asia, he founded the Department. He's also been a key figure in Santander Technology's ongoing digital transformation, advising on Agile best practices (he's a Certified Scrum Master and a Certified Kanban Management Professional), software engineering best practices, SOA (he has a master's degree in network and telecommunications engineering, 2nd national award), and more.
He's also a qualified cloud architect who's in charge of developing cloud patterns to help banks shift their services to the cloud. Since obtaining a Masters's in Blockchain at Stanford two years ago, blockchain has been his baby. He is a member of Stanford's blockchain club and is now working on web 3.0 proofs of concept, such as the Digital Trust protocol, which he open-sourced over two years ago after presenting at the OSSF in New York.
