Dr Andrew Charlton is the Federal Member of Parliament for Parramatta, representing the Australian Labor Party. He was elected to the House of Representatives in 2022. As the Member for Parramatta, Charlton is determined to improve the long-term future of the local area by delivering more investment, jobs, better healthcare, and improved schools. He is working hard to take pressure off families by making childcare cheaper, investing in local infrastructure, and supporting small businesses. Before entering politics, Charlton had a successful career as an economist, entrepreneur, and author. He served as a Senior Economic Advisor to former Prime Minister Kevin Rudd, helping navigate the Global Financial Crisis and representing Australia at G20 and UN summits. Charlton holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Oxford, where he was a Rhodes Scholar. He has worked at the London School of Economics, and the United Nations Development Programme, and co-authored books with Nobel Prize-winning economist Joseph Stiglitz. In addition to his role as Member for Parramatta, Charlton chairs the Parliamentary Friends of Blockchain group. He is married with three children and is passionate about delivering a strong future for his local community
