David Tse is a Professor of Engineering at Stanford University. Tse earned a B.S. in systems design engineering from the University of Waterloo, an M.S. in electrical engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and a Ph.D. in electrical engineering from MIT. He has designed assembly software to handle DNA and RNA sequencing data and was an inventor of the proportional-fair scheduling algorithm for cellular wireless systems.
He began his career as a postdoctoral researcher at AT&T Bell Laboratories. His research contributions include the invention of the proportional-fair scheduling algorithm, which significantly enhanced the efficiency of cellular networks, impacting billions of users globally. David was honored with the Early Faculty National Science Foundation CAREER Award and many more.
