Velas (VLX) is a high-speed Layer-1 blockchain, known as the world’s fastest EVM/eBPF hybrid chain. It is built for Web3 applications that need to scale, as well as DeFi protocols, NFTs, and decentralized ecosystems. The primary purpose will be to address the scalability, security, and decentralization issues with the help of the blockchain trilemma while retaining high efficiency in performance.

 

The capacity of the Velas blockchain is up to 75,000 transactions per second, and transaction finality is close to 1.2 seconds, placing the project among the fastest networks in the cryptocurrency ecosystem. 2020 The protocol shifted to a fork of the Solana codebase to push high-performance scalability, reaching 75,000+ TPS.
2021 Velas EVM went live, bringing Ethereum compatibility. The project also secured a global premium partnership with Scuderia Ferrari and introduced a $100M ecosystem fund.
2022 The focus moved to interoperability through cross-chain bridges. Velas also introduced “Velas Account” for passwordless, Web2-style authentication in Web3.
2023 The ecosystem developed to include Web3 games and metaverse initiatives. The hybrid eBPF/EVM environment was improved for developers.
