It was founded in 2018 by James Burron with a mission to promote information sharing, networking, and collaborative initiatives between its members and the industry. It offers several types of memberships including investors and individual memberships, manager memberships, service provider memberships, and start-up founder membership. CAASA has more than 400 members making it the largest group in Canada to represent the alternative investment sector.
