Bitcoin Events was founded in the year 2014 by Sonya Kuhnel and Theo Sauls who were early cryptocurrency adopters passionate about the promising future of blockchain technology and its use cases in addressing some of Africa's biggest challenges like financial inclusion, economic development, and the creation of job opportunities. In order to address the lack of education and awareness of the benefits and difficulties that blockchain technology and cryptocurrencies present for people and organizations in Africa, Bitcoin Events was founded. All people have the chance to study, connect with, and network with people and organizations who are developing goods and services with this technology through the events, workshops, and educational meetups hosted by Bitcoin Event. In 2019 and 2020, Bitcoin Events held its second annual event, the Crypto Fest, which was held in Cape Town, and its third event, the virtual DeFi Conference.
