Audrey Tang is Taiwan's first Digital Minister, known for her work in technology and open government. Tang has a background in computer programming and has been involved in various open-source and civic tech projects. She is known for her collaborative approach to policymaking, engaging with citizens and stakeholders through online platforms. During the Covid-19 pandemic, Tang's task was to “counter Covid with no lockdown, and counter the infodemic with no takedown”. In their view, civic technologies have more creativity and legitimacy compared to the central government – and bridging their respective ideas is Tang's central task. Tang has represented Taiwan at various international forums and conferences, sharing Taiwan's experiences in digital governance.
