Abraham Leno is the Executive Director of the Eastern Congo Initiative (ECI), a non-profit organization founded in 2010 by Ben Affleck and Whitney Williams. ECI is dedicated to supporting local Congolese-led initiatives that are working to create a stable and prosperous future for the people of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). As Executive Director, Leno provides strategic leadership and oversight for ECI's programs and operations. He is responsible for cultivating partnerships with local Congolese organizations, managing the organization's budget and resources, and advocating for the needs and priorities of the Congolese people on the global stage. Leno brings a deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing the DRC, having lived and worked in the region for many years. Prior to joining ECI, he served as the Director of Programs for the Panzi Foundation, an organization that provides holistic care and support to survivors of sexual violence in the DRC.Throughout his career, Leno has demonstrated a steadfast commitment to empowering local Congolese leaders and communities. He is passionate about leveraging the power of grassroots initiatives to drive sustainable development, improve access to healthcare and education, and promote peace and stability in the region.Under Leno's leadership, ECI has expanded its reach and impact, supporting a diverse portfolio of local projects that are making a tangible difference in the lives of Congolese citizens. He is a respected voice in the international development community, frequently speaking at conferences and events to share his insights and advocate for increased investment in the DRC.Leno holds a master's degree in International Development from the University of Sussex and is fluent in English, French, and Swahili. He is based in Bukavu, DRC, where he works closely with ECI's team and partner organizations to advance the organization's mission and vision.
