Yat Siu

Yat Siu is the Co-Founder, Executive Chairman, and Managing Director of Animoca Brands, a Hong Kong-based technology entrepreneur and investor focused on digital assets, Web3, artificial intelligence, gaming, and digital property rights. He moved to Hong Kong in 1996 and established Hong Kong Cybercity/Freenation before founding Outblaze in 1998. In 2009, IBM acquired the assets of Outblaze’s messaging division, after which Siu shifted Outblaze’s focus toward digital entertainment and technology incubation. He later helped establish Animoca Brands, created in 2014, which expanded into blockchain, gaming, digital assets, and decentralized technologies. Siu is also a non-official member of Hong Kong’s Task Force on Promoting Web3 Development.

Yat Siu began his technology career at Atari Germany in 1990 before moving to Hong Kong in 1996, where he established Hong Kong Cybercity/Freenation. He founded Outblaze in 1998 and developed it into a multilingual white-label web services company. In 2009, IBM acquired the assets of Outblaze’s messaging division, after which Outblaze shifted its focus toward digital entertainment and technology incubation. Animoca was incubated by Outblaze in 2011, while Animoca Brands was created in 2014. Siu became Chairman of Animoca Brands in 2018 and was appointed Group Executive Chairman and Managing Director in 2021.
