User Info

Sheila Warren is the head of the blockchain and distributed ledger technologies at the World Economic Forum. She was previously the VP of Strategic Alliances and General Counsel of TechSoup, a nonprofit network of non-governmental organizations that provides technical solutions to other non-governmental organizations. NGOsource, a blockchain-backed venture focused on international grantmaking, was founded by her as well.

She and the World Economic Forum launched the Central Banks Digital Currencies Project in 2019, which aimed to investigate the benefits of CBDCs and develop a framework for their use and regulation. The World Economic Forum also oversaw the formation of a group to investigate how blockchain technology may be used in the mining and metals industries.

We expect Warren's efforts at the WEF to help build a better route forward as blockchain and cryptocurrencies become more common in global talks about finance, trade, and humanitarianism. Her advocate for collaborating with communities and industries rather than working for them is a sound strategy for encouraging experimentation and innovation in current institutions.
