Schulman and PayPal seem to be planning great things for 2021. The CEO has stated in various interviews that the diminishing use of cash has created a huge opportunity for cryptocurrency adoption. He also believes that governments should enter the field by issuing central bank digital currencies that are crypto copies of their currency.

 

Schulman believes, though, that regulators must be on board for crypto to succeed. With all of these factors in mind, it appears like PayPal's overall strategy will be to take up the adoption mantle and disseminate cryptocurrency across its 28 million merchants worldwide in a completely regulated manner.

Each of those flaws could have cost hundreds of thousands of dollars, but because of his efforts, the teams were able to fix them before bad actors could take advantage of them.

 

Sun's successes helped him find professional success as well, as he joined Paradigm, one of the largest crypto venture firms, as a research partner in October.

 

Because of his crucial involvement at Paradigm, the Ethereum and decentralized financial ecosystems should see even more impactful research. Despite having less time to work on independent whitehat hacking, he remains a role model for blockchain researchers.

 

His story demonstrates how being responsible and helpful can pay off handsomely. And smart contract security becomes more critical as sophisticated attacks become more common, a new generation of whitehat researchers must step up and follow in Sun's footsteps.
