Two pizzas. 10,000 BTC.
Sixteen years ago this month, programmer Laszlo Hanyecz made history by convincing a stranger on the internet to deliver him two pizzas in exchange for Bitcoin. On May 22, 2010, he paid 10,000 BTC for the order — marking the first real-world Bitcoin transaction ever recorded. At the time, the cryptocurrency had little value and was mostly known among developers and enthusiasts. Today, that same amount of Bitcoin would be worth hundreds of millions of dollars, turning a simple pizza purchase into one of the most legendary and expensive meals in internet and crypto history.
