Melissa Sexton

Melissa Sexton is the Chief Risk Officer for BNY Mellon Wealth Management and BNY Mellon N.A. Bank. In this role, she is responsible for the independent oversight of various risks, including investment, fiduciary, operational, reputational, credit, market, liquidity, and strategic risks. Before joining BNY Mellon in May 2021, Sexton held several senior risk management roles, including Co-Head of Field Risk and Supervision at Morgan Stanley, overseeing risk management for ~16,000 Financial Advisors Head of Investment Risk at Morgan Stanley. Chief Risk Officer at hedge fund Concordia Advisors Senior risk management and trading roles at Bank of America and hedge funds Ore Hill Partners and Lotsoff Sexton holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mathematics and Economics from Boston University and is a CFA charter holder. She is a frequent speaker at industry conferences and serves on the Advisory Committee for the Minnesota Center for Financial and Actuarial Mathematics. Sexton has been recognized as one of the Most Powerful Women in Banking by American Bankers in 2015, 2019, and 2020.
