Kistner's year was more difficult than most of ours. In February, bZx was hit by two consecutive exploits while on retreat at the ETHDenver conference.
Kistner had to flee for his protocol's safety on several occasions, first sneaking into Bean's guarded community in the middle of the night and then foregoing an expensive lunch and sprinting with his team through the snow to patch the second hack.
Kistner's early days at bZx included a lot of programming and bootstrapping to create a Defi project before the term "Defi" was coined, as well as frequent sponsoring of conferences and community happy hours.
With bZx, his goal is to build trustless financial solutions that empower users around the world. His perspective centers on decentralization, empowering users, and fostering open-source innovation within the crypto ecosystem.
