Kristin Johnson is the Commissioner of the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), having been sworn in on March 30, 2022. She is also the professor of Law at Emory University School of Law. Her scholarship and teaching explore regulation and private ordering of capital and credit markets. she is recognized expert on financial markets regulation and corporate governance, compliance, and risk management.
Kristin Johnson's recent work examines the implications of emerging innovative technologies including distributed digital ledger technologies that enable the creation of digital assets and intermediaries and artificial intelligence technologies that target commercial and consumer financial transactions, transfers, and assessments. She has served as a visiting professor at the University of California-Irvine, the University of Florida, the University of Illinois, and Washington & Lee University law schools.
