Jeff Garzik, a long-time supporter and developer of open-source software, has contributed to some of the world's most large-scale OSS projects, including the Linux operating system and Bitcoin itself. He is the founder and chief technical officer of Spacechain, a project aiming to build an open-source, blockchain-based satellite network for decentralized applications. He's also the creator and CEO of Bloq, a software company that specializes in enterprise blockchain solutions, as well as Metronome, a cross-chain cryptocurrency.
Garzik was called to testify in the $4 billion litigation between Craig Wright and the Kleiman estate in March. He was questioned if he had any evidence that David Kleiman, not Wright, is Satoshi Nakamoto; the investigation is still underway.
BloqCloud, a cloud gateway that provides managed services for a range of public and private blockchain networks, was released in August 2019 to support a diverse network of blockchains, cryptocurrencies, and decentralized apps. On the Spacechain front, the European Space Agency has given the space company funding to develop blockchain satellite technology. The third launch of a payload-carrying blockchain-integrated technology destined for the International Space Station took place in December.
Bloq's key offering, BloqCloud, was launched last year, and we expect the team to continue growing the platform's capabilities, including managed services for emerging smart contract platforms. Throughout the year, it's also expected that Spacechain will make progress with additional payloads flown to the ISS or low-Earth geosynchronous orbit.
