Dr. Ernest Addison serves as the Governor of the Bank of Ghana, appointed to this position by the President of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, in April 2017. Dr. Addison is a distinguished economist with over 25 years of experience, focusing on economic development issues, monetary policy formulation, and macroeconomic surveillance. Under his leadership, the Bank of Ghana has implemented significant reforms to enhance financial system stability and the overall economy, leading to a successful clean-up exercise that resulted in a more resilient financial sector in Ghana. Dr. Addison holds a Ph.D. in monetary economics and economic development from McGill University, a master's degree in economics and politics from the University of Cambridge, and a degree in economics from the University of Ghana.
