Dr Mazhar Ali Bari

Dr. Mazhar is a seasoned Deeptech & Cleantech expert and business executive with over 25 years of experience across many industrial verticals. Adept at complex business analysis, operational efficiency, strategy development, techno-economic analysis, and delivering P&L targets. Proficient in leadership and cross-functional collaboration that promotes the formation of high-impact teams and high value partnerships. Dr. Bari is a thought leader and can develop innovative solutions open new opportunities and markets and build ecosystems. Regional Director (GCC region) at WAIYS GmbH, specializing in a cognitive computing infrastructure that is real-time AI, low-latency, and sustainable using neuromorphic ‘brain-like’ chip technology. Dr. Bari was CEO Consultant of the Advanced and Emerging Technologies Sector at Ajlan & Bros Holding Group (Family Office) developing strategies for investments, partnerships, and joint ventures in Green Hydrogen/Ammonia, Carbon Capture, E-fuels, Advanced electrolyzers, Smart Modular Construction, Advanced Semiconductors, and Space tourism. Dr. Bari was Senior Vice President of Technology and Innovation at Siemens (Saudi Arabia) and Head of the MindSphere Application Centre where he was also the subject matter expert on the Circular Carbon Economy, Industry 4.0, Cognitive Cities and responsible for driving digitalization business growth for the business units. He was responsible for bringing the first industrial IoT Platform to KSA (‘MindSphere In-Kingdom Cloud’), hosted on a local data center, that is compliant with national CITC data regulations. Dr. Bari creatively applied digitalization to develop and implement use cases such as a smart Construction Site Safety Solution’, an environmental Monitoring Assurance Platform’, a smart Haram IoT Solution’, ‘Smart EV’ manufacturing, and an integrated Digital Supply Chain Orchestration Platform’. He led initiatives with universities to promote emerging technologies and contributed to the AI and Space Economy thought leadership and is an invited speaker on these subjects including quantum cybersecurity. Between 2015-2018, Dr. Bari was the Strategic consultant at King Abdullah City for Atomic and Renewable Energy (KACARE) leading a team to develop and implement the technology localization and commercialization initiative in advanced renewable energy technologies. He has held numerous senior and leadership positions, including that of Founder of Science Technology Research Partners (STREP) Limited in Ireland, where he developed several technologies and spun-out SolarPrint Limited, where he served as CEO and CTO, and commercialized state-of-the-art dye sensitized solar cell (DSSC) technology for artificial light harvesting for powering wireless devices for IoT applications. Dr Bari led the ‘Conception and Implementation of Nanoscale Spin Electronics’ (CINSE) Program at Trinity College Dublin funded by Science Foundation Ireland. Built a world class team and infrastructure that generated over 100 scientific peer-reviewed papers. Dr. Bari earned his MPhil (Microelectronic Engineering and Semiconductor Physics) and Ph.D. (High-temperature Superconducting Qubits) degrees from the University of Cambridge (UK) and holds an International Executive MBA degree from the University College Dublin. He is currently a visiting Professor at the School of Physics at University College Dublin. Dr. Bari is the author of 10 patents. He has strong interests in Cognitive infrastructure and Quantum computing, Robotics, Space technologies, Autonomous energy systems, Ethical AI and the Metaverse.
