The World Economic Forum is an international organization aiming at improving the condition of the world by involving leaders from political, business, civil society, and academia to shape regional, industrial, and global agendas. It has set an agenda for 2030 that has goals of ending poverty and hunger as well as protecting the planet from degradation. The organization is funded through membership, which includes many business and political figures. The World Economic Forum was founded by Klaus Schwab on January 24, 1971, and is headquartered in Cologny, Switzerland. The WEF is well known for its annual meeting held in Davos, Switzerland, which gathers around 3000 participants that include political leaders, economists, business executives, and celebrities.
