Parity Technologies is a Web3 infrastructure company building blockchain frameworks and decentralized technologies.
Parity Technologies is a company that deals with the design of blockchain technology, with a primary focus on building the structure for Web3 and the Internet of the future. Parity Technologies was established in 2015 by Dr. Gavin Wood, one of the founders of Ethereum, and Jutta Steiner, an expert in the field of blockchain security. Parity Technologies builds the infrastructure of Web3, decentralized networks, interoperable blockchains, scalable Layer-1 blockchain ecosystems, smart contracts development frameworks, and enterprise blockchain technology.
| Year | Achievements |
| 2015 | Founded as EthCore by Ethereum co-founder Dr. Gavin Wood, along with Aeron Buchanan, TJ Saw, Ken Kappler, and Jutta Steiner. The company focused on building enterprise-grade Ethereum software infrastructure. |
| 2016 | Released the Parity Ethereum client written in Rust. It quickly became one of the fastest and most lightweight node software options on the Ethereum network. EthCore was later renamed to Parity Technologies. |
| 2018 | Introduced Substrate, an open-source framework written in Rust that allowed developers to build custom blockchains and connect them to the Polkadot network. |
| 2019 | Launched Kusama as an early-stage “canary network” for Polkadot. It became a live testing environment for governance, staking, and sharding technologies. |
| 2020 | Polkadot officially launched its Genesis block. Parity also transferred maintenance of the Parity Ethereum client to OpenEthereum, a decentralized autonomous organization (DAO), enabling it to focus fully on Polkadot. |
| 2021 | Completed development of Polkadot’s Parachain auction system, allowing independent layer-1 blockchains to connect to the Polkadot Relay Chain and operate together. |
| 2024 | Worked on “Polkadot 2.0” upgrades by replacing fixed parachain slot auctions with Agile Coretime, a flexible system that allows projects to purchase block space as needed. |
| 2025 | Continued deployment of the JAM (Join-Accumulate Machine) upgrade, designed to combine secure smart-contract functionality with Polkadot’s multi-chain architecture and strengthen Parity’s role in protocol research and development. |
