Company Info

GMX Exchange is a leading decentralized perpetual exchange (DEX) that allows for on-chain crypto trading, leveraged trading, and permissionless DeFi derivatives. It is based on Arbitrum and Avalanche, and users can trade spot and perpetual futures directly from their wallets with cheap costs, no price impact, and complete self-custody. The software allows users to trade across eight blockchains without requiring deposits or transferring funds. It was founded in 2021 and has since evolved into a dynamic trading ecosystem with high volume, open interest, and user participation.

Key Features of GMX Exchange:

    • Keeps slippage low with a model designed for zero price impact.
    • Trade BTC, ETH, and AVAX with up to 100x leverage in a non-custodial, wallet-based setup.
    • GLP powers swaps and leverage trading while earning fees for liquidity providers.
    • GMX token for governance and staking, GLP for earning trading fees (up to 70% for holders).
    • Earn ETH or AVAX, esGMX, and multiplier points from staking rewards.

GMX Exchange Milestones

Year Achievements
2021 GMX started as Gambit on BNB Chain and later rebranded to GMX. It officially launched on Arbitrum in September, followed by its launch on Avalanche in December.
2022 GMX quickly became the top protocol on Arbitrum by TVL. It introduced the GLP model, where a basket of assets acts as the counterparty to traders. This model gained strong attention during the “Real Yield” trend.
2023 In August, GMX launched the V2 Beta. This was a significant update; it enabled separated markets via GM pools, added support for more assets, reduced fees, and improved transaction execution speed with Chainlink Low-Latency Oracles.
2024 GMX received a $12 million ARB grant from the Arbitrum STIP, leading to increased liquidity and trading activity on the platform.
2025 GMX increased its reach by going live on the Base and Mantle networks. It also introduced Single-Token Pools, a feature that allows users to provide liquidity using either stablecoins or chosen blue-chip assets, without having to take on exposure to the entire GLP basket.
