Counterparty is a decentralized crypto exchange platform founded in 2013, by Adam Krellenstein, Evan Wagner, and Robby Dermody. The platform enables users to create their own digital tokens by extending Bitcoin space. Uses XCP as its native token that came into existence by Proof-of-Burn approach where many Bitcoins were sent to an unused address. At the exchange, an equivalent number of XCP worth 2.65 Million were generated on the Bitcoin blockchain space. The Counterparty DEX enables users to trade crypto assets on a P2P method even for crypto tokens designed on the platform.
Besides DEX, the company also includes asset creation, with which users are allowed to create custom-named assets for a small anti-spam fee. Counterparty wallets are additional aspects of the platform which are operable on the web, browser, and mobile devices. Counterparty makes use of Bitcoin-based smart contracts but these are also capable to interact with Counterparty tokens. The platform is focused to develop lightning network support for bitcoin to permit rapid exchange of crypto assets on the network. Users can also access a few Counterparty-listed assets on different exchanges such as Poloniex, and MasterXchange. On July 16, 2019, the platform announced HAZAMA which is a bitcoin side chain technology, whereas on April 3, 2019, released Raizer DEX, an alternate decentralized exchange.
