CESS Network is a decentralized storage network built for AI, cloud computing, and data sovereignty.
The CESS Network is an ecosystem for decentralized data infrastructure that aims to create a new-generation solution for storage, data delivery, and AI-compatible cloud computing services. This decentralized blockchain project is developed as a layer-1 ecosystem, which integrates decentralized storage, Content-Decentralized Delivery Network (CD²N), data sovereignty, data privacy solutions, and infrastructure for AI purposes to help enterprises, developers, and decentralized apps operate on the Internet. The technology is supported by its proprietary blockchain and integrates decentralized storage, content delivery, smart contract capabilities, cloud computing services, and advanced data solutions dedicated to AI applications into one ecosystem
| Year | Key Achievements |
| 2019 – 2020 | The core CESS technical team came together to solve problems in centralized cloud storage. |
| A multi-layer decentralized network architecture was completed, and early prototypes were tested. | |
| The team defined the base frameworks for key protocols like Random Rotational Selection (R²S) consensus, Multi-format Data Rights Confirmation (MDRC), and Proof of Data Reduplication and Recovery (PoDR²). | |
| 2021 | The CESS White Paper v0.1 was published, and the public testnet v0.1 went live. |
| The project secured 1st place at the Polkadot APAC Hackathon, confirming its direction as a Substrate-based chain built for cross-chain systems. | |
| 2022 | Testnet moved through multiple upgrades from v0.1.2 to v0.6. |
| Decentralized Object Storage Service (DeOSS) was launched, enabling fast Web3 data access at near-Web2 speeds. | |
| 2023 | Testnet continued to evolve up to v0.7.5, with the network surpassing 1,100 active storage nodes. |
| In December 2023, CESS raised $8 million in Series A funding from DWF Labs, HTX Ventures, Infinity Ventures Crypto, and the Web3 Foundation. | |
| 2024 | The team launched the DeCloud v1.0 disk app and began shifting focus toward decentralized science (DeSci) and AI-driven data infrastructure. |
| 2025 | Final code audits were completed as the project prepared for the Mainnet launch after the last testnet phases. |
| CESS developed CESS AI-LINK, a developer toolkit that lets AI agents and LLMs directly access decentralized data pools. | |
| A point-to-token redemption system was introduced for early testnet miners, along with preparations for the Token Generation Event (TGE) of the native token ($CESS). |
