Year Achievements
2018 Cake Wallet was founded by Vikrant Sharma. It launched as the first open-source Monero (XMR) wallet for iOS, with a strong focus on financial privacy.
2019 The Android version went live. In-app exchange features were added, so users could swap Monero for other assets.
2020 The wallet moved beyond Monero and started supporting Bitcoin (BTC). It also introduced custom nodes and faster sync speeds.
2021 Support for Litecoin (LTC) and Haven Protocol (XHV) was added. The “Cake Pay” feature was introduced, letting users buy gift cards using crypto.
2022 Cake Wallet became the first mobile wallet to support Litecoin’s MWEB (MimbleWimble) privacy upgrade. Beta versions for MacOS, Windows, and Linux were also released.
2023 The team launched “Monero.com,” a dedicated XMR-only version of the wallet. Bitcoin's “silent payments" were also introduced to improve BTC privacy.
2024 Support expanded to Ethereum (ETH) and EVM-compatible chains like Polygon and Arbitrum. WalletConnect integration made it easier to connect with dApps.
2025 Native support for the Bitcoin Lightning Network was added. Cake Wallet also announced the takeover of MyMonero, bringing its users into the Cake Wallet ecosystem.
