Claudia Lopez is the former Mayor of Bogota, Colombia. She was elected in 2019 as the city's first female and first lesbian mayor, serving a four-year term until 2023. She was recognized for her tenacity and capacity for collective action, particularly in leading impactful anti-corruption campaigns. Before entering politics, López was an accomplished researcher and scholar.
She holds a bachelor's degree in finance and international relations from Universidad Externado de Colombia, a master's degree in public administration and urban policy from Columbia University, and a Ph.D. in political science from Northwestern University.
