Few people compare to Anthony Albanese when it comes to financial industry regulation. Between 2016 to 2020, the high-profile New York attorney served as the New York Stock Exchange's chief regulatory officer, where he oversaw regulatory compliance and enforced applicable securities laws.
Albanese worked for the New York State Department of Financial Services in a variety of capacities before joining the NYSE, notably as superintendent of financial services during the rollout of the BitLicense regulatory framework in 2015. He graduated from St. John's University School of Law with a J.D. and practiced law for 13 years.
Albanese is now a partner at Andreessen Horowitz, where he is in charge of defining the venture capital firm's cryptocurrency strategy. The company raised $515 million for its second crypto-focused investment vehicle in 2020, indicating that it was diversifying its digital-asset portfolio.
